Students:

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a computer-based method of predicting stresses and deflections in bodies. This method is now an integral part of engineering today. We have developed the CMU Mini-FEA Program for students. First, the program can help you learn strength of materials (or mechanics of materials) better. Second, this program introduces you to this real-world aspect of contemporary engineering practice.

The program introduces you to real-world FEA, because the steps to use the Mini-FEA program are the same as the basic steps in high-powered, commercial FEA programs.
